Fundraiser FAQ

This fundraiser offers a thrilling experience that unites the entire group to engage with hundreds, even thousands, of potential donors. We achieve this by leveraging technology, student networks, and exciting incentives to channel funds directly into the booster club’s bank account. Students are encouraged to make personal connections and are motivated by enjoyable individual and team incentives to meet their fundraising objectives.

How does the system and process work?

Students will seek support from family and friends, both near and far, by utilizing their personal fundraising link and reaching out via phone, text, and email.

The fundraiser consists of 5 steps:

  • Families and students generate a LONG list contacts
  • Students will create their personal fundraiser page
  • Students attend the kickoff event where they contact potential donors and share the link to their personal fundraising page.
  • Parents & students post a link to the students’ campaign site on social media
  • The system sends out (2) reminders to contacts entered into the system known as the BackStage for their fundraiser

How does your student create contacts?

Each student will fill out their contacts on the contact sheet below, enter those contacts into the fundraising system, and then turn in the contact list.  The students goal is to create at least 25 contacts.

I do not know 25 people, who should I include?

  • Start with close friends and family members who know your student well. This will be who your student calls. (Grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, close personal friends, etc)
  • Then include co-workers, casual acquaintances, distant relatives, and former students. This is the group to send text messages or send emails.

FAQ

What happens during the kickoff event?

Following a meal, students will contact individuals from their pre-approved list via call and text to secure pledges. They will receive detailed, step-by-step instructions for contacting their contacts. Upon receiving a commitment, students will text the donor a link to their personal campaign page. Students will be divided into groups for a friendly competition, earning individual and team rewards based on their fundraising impact.

What happens to the contact information put into the fundraising systems?

We send two text messages to contacts entered into the system : a reminder early during the fundraiser then one last reminder during the last week. All contact information is kept private, will not be sold or shared, and is used exclusively for this fundraiser. Once the fundraiser concludes, all entered contacts are deleted.  All messages are fully compliant with US laws including allowing contacts to opt-out.

How long is the kickoff?

60-90 minutes.

What is the fundraising goal?

We are asking each student to set a personal goal of $250. If each student reaches that goal we will for sure reach that goal.  A quick way for each student to reach his/her goal is for each student to focus on getting (10) of their (20-25) contacts to donate $25.

What if my student receives a pledge but the donor would prefer to write a check?

That’s great! All types of payments will be accepted. Specific directions where to mail the check will be provided via email after the donation is made.

Are donations tax-deductible and will donors receive a written acknowledgement? Yes, all donations are tax-deductible. Per the IRS, organizations are not required to provide a receipt for gifts of $250 or less. The email receipt provided may be used as evidence of the donation. For gifts of $250 or more, the Booster club is happy to provide the donor with an acknowledgement upon request.

What are ways to help my student exceed their goal!

  1. The most effective way to support your student is to assist them in compiling an extensive contact list. Subsequently, inform these contacts of the exact date and time your student will be reaching out to them.
  2. After the kickoff, share your students’ campaign on social media… (examples below)
